The Sun, the Moon, and the Stars

The Sun and the Moon were once the closest of friends. Every day, they played together, the Sun warming and lighting up the world, the Moon softly gleaming over it. They laughed, danced, shared secrets.

One day, though, a dark cloud passed between them. Feeling lonely and lost, the Moon grew sad. The Sun himself was worried but did not understand the sadness of the Moon. More time passed, and the Sun found a new friend—a sparkling star. They played, laughed, and brightened up the whole sky again.

One day, feeling lost and alone, the Moon reached out to the Sun. Remembering the old days, the Sun listened patiently. The Sun felt pretty good about its star. Not everybody can be a shining star, part of the Sun was saddened for the Moon because it knew it was going through a rough time just as one time it had gone through.

So the Sun came around to be with the Moon, offering an ear to listen and comfort. Having known painful feelings before, it seemed to the Sun that the moon needed to find her way through this no-light period on her own.

You, like the Sun, have found another friend—your happiness. And it's okay to remember the past, your finger touching the Moon's sadness, for he has fallen on hard times. Remember when you were there and know how it feels. Be present with the Moon, but remember to protect your happiness with the star.

Happiness is like the Sun's warmth; sadness is in the Moon for the past; and the star is your present. Let them shine all in your sky.
